On-Demand Virtual Visits

On-demand virtual visits are telehealth appointments available on a first come, first serve basis providing access to experienced, specialty-trained NPs and PAs under the supervision of board-certified Gastroenterologists who can order labs, imaging, procedures and prescriptions.

What is an on-demand virtual visit?

  • On-demand virtual visits connect you instantly with a GI provider—no appointment needed. Just use a device with internet, an updated browser, and a working mic and camera. After completing registration you will be immediately placed in line for a visit.

How do I schedule an on-demand virtual visit?

  • No appointment is needed! Start a visit by clicking the “Start Visit” button above, or from the top navigation on the homepage. You can complete registration and intake anytime. If outside operating hours, you’ll be offered a spot in line when the waiting room opens.
  • Visit hours:  Monday-Friday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. PST

What type of issues can be addressed?

  • On-demand virtual visits are ideal for most common GI concerns. Providers can evaluate symptoms, diagnose, prescribe treatment and order labs or procedures if needed. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room.

Who can use on-demand visits?

  • On-demand visits are available for insured patients, aged 18+. Valid insurance info is required at registration. Cash-pay and certain plans needing prior authorization or referrals are not eligible. These patients can still be seen by other providers at the practice, please call (858) 453-5200 for assistance.

What are the wait times like?

  • Wait times vary based on the number of patients ahead of you, but the average wait is about 30 minutes. After entering the virtual waiting room, you’ll receive a text and email when your provider is ready, so there’s no need to stay in front of your screen. You can complete registration anytime and will be offered a spot in line when the waiting room opens.

What technology do I need for a virtual visit?

  • You will need a device with internet, camera, microphone and a web browser, plus access to your registration email. No apps needed – just join through the link sent via text or email.

What if I experience technical difficulties during the virtual visit?

  • If you have trouble connecting, make sure your camera and mic are enabled. Try joining from another device if needed. If issues continue, the provider may call you, and the visit can be completed by phone.

How much does a visit cost?

  • On-demand visits are billed like regular office visits. Make sure to provide up-to-date insurance information during registration. Any remaining balance will be billed after your visit. To avoid delays, please call (858) 453-5200 to provide payment or inquire about your account balance.

What if I need a prescription during a virtual visit?

  • If a prescription is necessary, the healthcare provider will send it directly to your preferred pharmacy.

Can I use on-demand virtual visits for emergency situations?

  • No, on-demand visits are not suitable for emergencies. In case of a medical emergency, please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room. If you have an urgent GI concern that is not an emergency but needs timely attention, on-demand visits may be a great alternative to visiting an urgent care or emergency department.

Can I choose a specific healthcare provider for my virtual visit?

  • You will not be able to select a specific provider for an on-demand visit, but rest assured that our on-demand visit clinicians are a highly trained and highly skilled group of providers just like you would experience in the office.

Is my personal health information secure during a virtual visit?

  • Yes, we prioritize the security and confidentiality of your health information. Our virtual visit platform complies with all privacy regulations, and all communication is encrypted to ensure the protection of your data.
