Insurance and Billing

At the time of your visit, patients are asked to provide the receptionist with correct insurance information, including the insurance card to be copied. HMO and other “managed care” plans usually require the primary care physicians to provide the patient with a referral form to be presented to the specialty care physician. This form specifies the request for consultation or treatment, and the reason for the referral. If your insurance company requires a referral form and you do not bring the form with you, we may need to reschedule your visit.

Patients are responsible for full payment of any co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles required by their insurance company. Your insurance coverage is an agreement between you and your insurance company. Financial responsibility rests with the patient for deductibles, co-insurance and non-covered services. La Jolla Gastroenterology Medical Group, Inc. accepts cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. We also offer the option to pay bills online. With our online bill pay option, you can securely make a payment for your service online with no hassles.

The Cost of Your Procedure

Because you are responsible for costs for covered healthcare services until you reach your deductible, you should comparison shop if you elect to have a nonemergency procedure.

You can use tools like Healthcare Bluebook and the Medicare Procedure Price Lookup (for Medicare patients). Many health insurance websites also provide information on where to find in-network services.
